Things You Should Know

Pygmy is the new book by author Chuck Palahniuk.
The man behind Fight Club and many other great books.
Palahniuk is easily when of the best writers of our time. Many of the books on my shelve are from Authors long ago or who have passed not too long ago, so the fact that there are more masterpieces to look forward too is very exciting. There is a reason the movie rights to his books are being snatched up, the latest movie release being Choke.
Chuck is darkly humorous, witty, absolutely clever, and the detail and research that goes into each book is extremely rewarding to the reading. Invisible Monsters
still reigns as my current favorite but I am looking forward to reading Pygmy. Since I read Invisible Monsters “Plumbago” is forever etched into my brain.
Chuck has a way of doing that to his readers. etching memorable quotes, characters, one liners, and words into his readers heads. He certainly is one of the most fascinating writers alive, I mean who has more exciting book signings then him? Really though, you can walk into a book store, find the section where his books are, and just grab one. He’s that good. Some call him crazy, I call him genius. There is a reason he calls his fans “The Cult” and I am proud to be a part of that “Cult”.

Pygmy
is a term used for various ethnic groups worldwide whose average height is unusually low; anthropologists define as pygmy any group whose adult males grow to less than 150 cm (4 feet 11 inches) in average height

The plot revolves around a 13-year-old exchange student, one of a dozen “shipped to America”, to live with American families.[2] Agent Number 67, nicknamed Pygmy for his diminutive size, arrives in the United States from his totalitarian homeland, as an ‘exchange student’ into the welcoming arms of his Simpsons-spinoff Midwestern host family.[3] They introduce Pygmy into the rituals of postmodern American life. Along with his fellow operatives, he is planning something big; his science project is intended to kill millions when it explodes in Washington, D.C.[2]

Like Franz Ferdinand? May we suggest The Rakes Formed in 2004, The London group shot to fame in ’05 but have joined great like the Stereophonics in being largely ignored in the states.
Compared to Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, and Art Brut (nut not as artsy). Besides touring with Ferdinand on their ‘You Could Have It So Much Better. ..’ tour during the winter of 2005 They also share great fashion sense.
Associated with Fred Perry, Dior Homme and Louis Vuitton brands. Fashion designer Hedi Slimane was said to be so impressed by the band’s music and dress sense that he based one of his collections around them. The Rakes also provided the soundtrack to the Dior Homme fashion show, with the song “The World Was A Mess, But His Hair Was Perfect”. The Rakes just recently released “Klang” Their 3rd album, one I almost missed as I heard little about it. Although associated with the British post-punk/art-rock scene, The Rakes are clearly distinguishable by their brashness and seem to by one of the few modern bands that has a grasp of what “punk” is; Something they weave well into their sound. Writing songs about working life, mundane routines and escapism, The Rakes have charted with their singles in the UK Top 40 and I expect The Rakes to continue to make great music and one day hopefully expand their cult following and grow stateside.

The much blogged about French Indie Band Phoenix just dropped their highly anticipated album ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix‘ If you didn’t catch their great performance on Saturday Night Live (April 4th) or listened to the tracks floating around all over the internet then I highly suggest you take some time out to give this album a listen. ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix‘ was slated for a May 25th release but the album’s release date was pushed up sooner most likely due to the album being leaked. (a very similar situation the Yeah Yeah Yeahs just went through) Either way, the albums timing is perfect. Why? this album screams spring/summer. Listening to these tracks induces a warm mellow mood perfect for sunrises, sunsets, chill sessions, and hitting the highway. With tracks like ‘1901″ popping up everywhere I didn’t get to excited until I heard some of the more less spread tracks. Tracks like ‘Fences’ and ‘If I Ever Feel Better’ have become my favorites out of the bunch so far. Phoenix’s sound is been compared to fellow French artist Air, and The Postal Service, just to name a few. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is a strong contender for one of the top 10 albums of the year (top 20 at worst) it’s vibe is perfect for the season and these stressful times.

Porn Star Stormy Daniels is seriously considering running against Louisiana’s Republican senator, David Vitter, in 2010. Vitter was linked to the D.C. Madame and her services in 2007. Why not? who cares that she is a porn star, if she is serious, has real solutions to real problems then it is fine with me.
It’s not like the so called politicians are any where near better. It’s funny how critics jump on their hypocritical high horse they affectionately call “Morals” and criticize as if they are better. Especially when their lives are such a disaster of dysfunction. I still stand by my statement that Audrey Bitoni would be great in public service. She can be great at anything she does.

Donald “Ean” Evans, bassist for Lynyrd Skynyrd, has died after a long battle with cancer.

It’s the second death in the band this year. In January, Billy Powell, the former keyboardist, also died.
The band has been plagued by death over the years;
In 1977 three band members died in a plane crash.
Rest Easy Ean, your contribution will not be forgotten.
