Las Vegas Anyone?

The LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority ) Have revived the popular “What Happens Here, Stays Here” ad campaign, dropping $7.8 million into the effort. Although most people didn’t know the ad campaign had stopped, especially since “What Happens Here, Stays Here” or “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” has become quite the catch phrase. Sources tell me that it wasn’t just the recession that prompted the LVCVA to bring back the ads, President Obama’s comment back in February telling companies not to spend tax payer dollars to come to Las Vegas was also a factor in bringing back the ad campaign. The LVCVA reported that over 400 scheduled conventions and business meetings were canceled and Governor Jim Gibbons says the canceled events cost Las Vegas over $100 million, which does not include gaming revenue.

The new ad is arguably the best yet, and shows what most feel is a more realistic depiction. Although the media will portray things as grim, and bad, bad, bad.
The fact is, now more then ever is the perfect time to come to Las Vegas. The unheard of deals and accommodations are truly spectacular. People are coming, and people are spending. This writer has seen it first hand in many stores and casinos across the valley.
It’s not just tourist either, many locals are also spending. Of course having a sale, discount, or any sort of reduction in price is what people expect and will shell money out for. The strip is not quite folks, nor will it be anytime soon.

Las Vegas is not only attracting Broadway plays, and big name music artist for their own special show. We are bringing more concerts then ever, even more independent artist are performing and finding out how lucrative and successful a show here in Vegas can be.
Here are a few notable highlights of who is coming to Sin City.

Here are a few funny and helpful tips for your trip to Las Vegas.

With the current situation of the economy, don’t be afraid to negotiate prices and comps, however do not expect to get the playboy suite just for spending a few grand. expect nothing, gain a lot. Mentioning to the Front Desk Manger that you were thinking of staying at (insert hot rival casino here) and see what they offer you. Or ask what sets apart their accommodations from (Encore, The Palms, Wynn, Bellagio, etc.)

There are no Rewards or free buffet voucher’s for proclaiming that you’ve spent little Johnny’s college fund

If the vices you seek can’t be found on the strip, or you want a better quality of said vice; then talk to your friendly Las Vegas Cab Driver, they get kick backs for taking you to the right place, but be prepared for a fee and don’t be afraid to negotiate.

Men: Khaki shorts way above your knee and pastel polos are not “hip” and identify you as a mark

If your going to wear flip flops, sandals, slides, etc. at least make sure your feet do not look utterly disgusting.
You don’t have to have a pedicure, but at least trim those toe nails.

Fanny Packs are for geezers and hiding that pouch/spare tire that is your lower stomach.

I know it is hot here, I know your vacationing but for the love of jackpots, Dress nice when your attending a show, classy restaurant, or lounge. Showing that you have class will increase your chances of comps, being mistaken for someone important, and you’ll notice that you are treated with much more respect.

If your coming here alone or with the guys, and plan on looking like stylish high rollers – avoid buffets, penny slots, and any other cheap machines. The tables is where its at, and where you’ll get noticed.

The beautiful girls you encounter in the casinos and clubs are not all hookers, and strippers. Treating them as such will get you no where and possibly thrown outside because Hot Girls in clubs and casinos bring in money, when you mess with that, you’ll get messed up.

Men: You are not god’s gift to women, set yourself apart by dressing nice, not drunkenly throwing yourself at her, and having an air of mystery to you. You can be the most boring plain looking joe in the joint but if you play your cards right you’ll be surprised, it is not always about the size of your bank account.

You all have heard classics such as “Viva Las Vegas” well we have a couple of modern tracks that fit the overall theme of Vegas quite well.

Mojo Nixon – The Pleasurelegience MP3

Ryan Adams – Oh Las Vegas (Live) MP3

This is part 1 of a 4 part post. Next we will go into The President’s comments that hurt the Las Vegas economy, More on the mystery of Danny Gans, and unwelcome band Limp Bizkit looks to make a comeback in a town (Las Vegas) that despises them (Fred Durst to be exact)
All coming up within the next day or two!
